IoT devices are the glue to an interconnected world or things.  In some cases those “things” can harvest, digest, store and share their data (which can be your personal data) to a variety of enterprise systems in the cloud.  Does big brother really care about what I am doing?

This is hard to say, but a new era of data privacy with regulations like General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and many states following suit with their own initiatives (California – https://www.caprivacy.org/ , etc.)

IoT for All takes a closer look at Privacy and IoT (5 Reasons Privacy and IoT are Incompatible).  While all IoT systems do not treat data in the same way, manufacturers and developers of IoT ecosystems must concern themselves with the ramifications of a larger data lifecycle.
